The Weekly Recap 4/4/25: LSI Alumni Achievements Driving Medtech and Healthtech Forward

In a successful week for the medical technology companies in the LSI Alumni community, we saw LSI Alumni receive FDA 510(k) clearances, secure over $200M in funding, appoint new executives, and much more on the road to LSI Asia ‘25 in Singapore (June 10-13).

Append Medical

Appointed Shlomi Nachman as Chairman of the Board to help advance its mission of transforming stroke prevention for patients with atrial fibrillation. Nachman brings over 25 years of medtech leadership, including senior roles at Johnson & Johnson, and will guide the company’s growth as it scales its implant-free, vacuum-based LAA occlusion system.

Calla Lily Clinical Care

Secured £1M in NIHR funding to advance Callavid®, a novel device designed to improve progesterone delivery for women experiencing threatened miscarriage. The first-of-its-kind drug-device combo aims to reduce medication leakage and enhance patient comfort and is now entering clinical trials.

Cagent Vascular

Announced a strategic partnership with 3comma Medical to expand international distribution of its Serranator® PTA Serration Balloon Product Family across the EU and MENA regions. The collaboration aims to accelerate adoption of Cagent’s serration balloon technology for peripheral artery disease (PAD) and chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI), building on commercial success in the U.S. and enhancing global access to advanced vessel preparation solutions.

CMR Surgical

Raised over $200M in a financing round supported by existing investors and new investor Trinity Capital to accelerate the global commercialization of its Versius Surgical Robotic System. The funds will fuel U.S. market expansion, advance product development, and strengthen CMR’s position as the second most adopted soft tissue surgical robot worldwide.

CorWave

Appointed Dawn Sadlowski-Buisserez as Vice President of Operations to support the ramp-up of its production system in preparation for clinical and commercial phases. With over 30 years of experience in large-scale manufacturing of active implantable medical devices, she will drive operational excellence and help expand CorWave’s innovative cardiac assist technology.

Epitel

Received expanded FDA 510(k) clearance for its REMI™ Wireless EEG System, now approved for use in infants and children one year of age and older. The clearance broadens access to comfortable, wireless brain health monitoring for pediatric patients, reinforcing Epitel’s mission to make neurological care more accessible across all ages and care settings.

FineHeart

Appointed Sébastien Robitaille as Chief Financial Officer to support its scale-up journey and global expansion of the FLOWMAKER® solution for advanced heart failure. With over 25 years of international experience in healthtech, financing, and business transformation, Robitaille will play a key role in driving FineHeart’s commercial and industrial growth.

Methinks AI

Announced a strategic partnership with Medtronic to integrate its AI-powered stroke assessment platform into Medtronic’s Neurovascular portfolio across Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Türkiye. The collaboration aims to streamline patient triage by enabling faster large vessel occlusion detection using non-contrast CT scans—improving access, reducing treatment delays, and enhancing stroke care delivery throughout the region.

Nalu Medical

Appointed veteran medtech executive Raymond W. Cohen as Chairman of the Board of Directors, bringing four decades of leadership experience, including recent exits at Axonics and SoniVie. Cohen’s appointment supports Nalu’s mission to accelerate adoption of its miniaturized neurostimulation system for chronic neuropathic pain, backed by his deep neuromodulation expertise and proven track record of medtech growth.

Welcomed Heather Hudnut Page to its Advisory Board, bringing over two decades of medtech leadership experience across Medtronic and Philips. A recognized expert in commercializing breakthrough technologies, Page will support Navigation Sciences’ strategic growth as the company advances its mission to improve precision in lung cancer and soft tissue surgery.

NOVADIP Biosciences

Appointed Soumya Chandramouli as Chief Financial Officer to support its upcoming €50M Series C round and global commercialization goals. With 25 years of experience and recent success leading a €93M life sciences fundraise, Chandramouli strengthens Novadip’s executive team as the company advances its late-stage regenerative medicine pipeline toward market entry by 2027.

Osteoboost (Bone Health Technologies)

Received FDA De Novo classification in January 2024 for its novel, non-drug vibration therapy device to address low bone density—marking only the 14th such approval ever granted by the Orthopedic Panel. This milestone underscores the clinical rigor and innovation behind Osteoboost’s technology, setting a new standard for early intervention in bone health.

PulmoTech

Sentec has acquired PulmoTech BV, bringing its Intelligent Esophageal Pressure System (iEPS) into the fold to further advance respiratory care and improve outcomes for compromised patients. The integration of PulmoTech’s iEPS technology strengthens Sentec’s mission to drive meaningful innovation in patient monitoring while supporting more effective and efficient clinical practices.

$38M in growth capital and received FDA 510(k) clearance for the iTotal Identity™ CR 3DP Porous Total Knee Replacement System—the first cementless addition to its patient-specific Identity knee platform. Combining advanced 3D-printed porous technology with personalized implants and instruments, this system offers surgeons a streamlined solution designed to enhance fixation, preserve native joint mechanics, and improve long-term outcomes.

SamanTree Medical

Received a Series B extension round led by Karista, bringing the total financing to $20M to support the U.S. commercial launch of the Histolog® Scanner. SamanTree Medical developed the Histolog® Scanner, a CE-marked and FDA cleared device, that enables rapid high-resolution imaging of fresh tissue surfaces during surgery.

Vascular Perfusion Solutions

Appointed Dawn Bitz to its Strategic Board of Advisors, bringing nearly 30 years of executive leadership in medical devices from Medtronic and Boston Scientific. Her deep expertise in regulatory strategy, commercialization, and scaling global businesses will support VPS’s mission to transform organ preservation and transplantation.

Zeto

Unveiled NeuroPulse, the first AI-powered status epilepticus detection software using full 10-20 EEG, developed in collaboration with the Austrian Institute of Technology’s encevis EEG analysis software. The integration enhances Zeto’s rapid EEG platform with real-time seizure burden detection, supporting critical decision-making in emergency and neurocritical care settings.
