The global market for robotic surgery systems approached $2.63 billion in 2019 and is projected to increase 18.2% annually through 2024 to $6.07 billion. These figures include the capital equipment, service and training but exclude proprietary instruments, implants and accessories which also represent a multi-billion dollar market. Growth will be strong in all segments—even the established laparoscopic segment—based on increasing global adoption of these technologies to enable more predictable surgical outcomes, especially for challenging cases. Laparoscopic systems will remain the dominant type based on their application to numerous surgical procedures. However, as emerging segments, bronchoscopic and cardiovascular robotic systems will see the fastest gains.
